About us

Founded in 1979 by Kelvin Lord, Lord and Company today employs a select team of professional staff from diverse technical disciplines ranging from mechanical and electrical engineering to chemical, biotechnology and biomedical science.

Our clients vary in size from the individual inventor and small businesses to large multinational companies and organisations around the world. We are appropriately sized to handle any matter, whilst being small enough to provide tailored and dedicated service to each and every client.

Over the years, Lord and Company have become established in a wide range of industries, including communication, IT, biotech, health and medical, pharmaceutical, food and agricultural, and the resources and manufacturing sectors.

We are able to offer considerable experience and expertise in attending to the IP needs of clients regardless of industry, and registering patent, trade mark and design rights both locally and internationally.

Lord and Company act directly before IP Australia and IPONZ and can provide valuable advice and legal services to those who seek to protect their IP rights in Australia and New Zealand.

Internationally, we have built and maintain close affiliate relationships with selected local law firms and overseas associate firms in many countries around the world, ensuring our clients the best possible service both internationally and locally.

Lord and Company support innovation in science with our close collaborations with the University of Western Australia (UWA), Curtin University, Royal Australian Chemical Institute, and Australian Water Association. Our attorneys are proud members and active participants of international IP associations: AIPPI, APAA, INTA, LES, FICPI; and professional associations in Australia: Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys, Royal Australian Chemical Institute and Engineers Australia.

Lord and Company further support Community Innovation and the agricultural sector and sponsors the Annual Wagin Woolorama.
