Warning on Trade Mark Catalogues
Recently we have had reports of a number of our clients receiving unsolicited advances from a number of Trade Mark Catalogues. These Catalogues are offering to publish the trade mark in question in their catalogue. However, we highly recommend that you consult with your trade mark attorney prior to paying any invoice received regarding your trade mark.
IP Australia and the Department of Commerce(WA) have reported on their website about their findings regarding these practises. More information can be found in
IP Australia's report
Department of Commerce's Report
We have heard of instances where Trade Mark Owners have paid the substantial sum of money asked for publication in the catalogue thinking that it was an official fee, this is not the case .
We feel that this has occured due to the manner in which the invoice is presented. Again we highly recommend that you contact your trade mark attorney, if you are not sure about an invoice you have been presented with in regard your trade mark.
